April Update on Course Progress

There’s something special about bringing a course back to life — especially one as beloved as Jones Creek. Our team has been hard at work on major course updates that will not only preserve the integrity of the original design but also improve the playability and sustainability of the course for years to come.

Rediscovering the Original Greens

One of our most exciting updates has been locating and restoring the original green complexes, redesigned by Tom Fazio. After years of overgrowth and shifting ground, our crew has carefully stripped, tilled, and refloated the greens back to work towards their intended elevations and contours. This process not only honors the course’s original design but also helps ensure proper water flow and drainage, setting the stage for a smooth grow-in process.

Returning Sand to Its Home

We’ve also been moving sand back to its original placement in bunkers and low areas, which further enhances the course’s natural flow and aesthetics. By reshaping these features to their original form, we’re improving drainage and setting up a more consistent experience for every golfer.

Pond Restoration: Next Up

Next on our list is a major pond renovation. Over time, the pond has taken on too much runoff, affecting both its appearance and its role in irrigation. Over the next few months, we’ll begin work to rebuild the dam and redredge the pond, restoring it to its original depth and function. Since our irrigation system pulls directly from the pond, this step is essential to ensure we’re set up for long-term success.

Looking Ahead!

With the groundwork being laid, our crew will soon begin moving forward to test and fine-tune our irrigation system. It’s a key step in prepping the course for sprigging, which will depend on weather, timing, and everything aligning just right. Our goal is to create the best playing surfaces for the optimal experience.
